The Municipal Services Commission is a municipally owned utility and a equal opportunity employer. The Commission pumps and treats water from local wells and operates and maintains a city distribution system The Commission is a wholesale purchaser of electric and operates and maintains a 12 kV distribution system. Water Operators are hired with and without experience but must become licensed by the State of Delaware. Electric Linemen either come to the Commission with experience or are trained in house. Office personnel operate and maintain a computerized billing and collection system. The Commission's normal compliment of employees is 17 people who are both union and non-union workers.
